ROAD TRIPPP

Well this was a bad time for a road rip. I had recently been sick so I didnt think I could attend this outing. But with some help from antibiotics , I pulled myself together. I ventured out half way through the trip. I had been to the Dail before with school( awwwwwww good times) So i decided to meet up with the guys at the science gallery. From the 20th of March until the 11th of June, there is an exhibition showing ‘Hyperbolic Crochet Coral Reef’. A woolly wonder. This is done by the Institute for Figuring and Companions.

The “Hyperbolic Crochet Coral Reef” is a worldwide project that marries mathematics, marine biology, handicraft, community art practice and environmental consciousness-raising. People all over the world – from London and New York to Capetown – are collectively crocheting coral reefs, a woolly testimony to the disappearing wonder of living reefs that are being devastated by global warming. At the workshop, participants will join curator Margaret Wertheim to finalise the process of making an “Irish Reef”, which will be exhibited alongside the international crochet reef collection at Science Gallery in Spring 2010.

To gove more information what our trip was about. We split up into groups of 3 and went around with like a tour guide. They showed us each art display and went into depth about each design. It was beautiful and very heart warming to know people are using art too display their feelings on big natural causes. I enjoyed the trip even though I missed the dail. Some people felt the trip had no cnnection to our studies , but i just thought to get out of college for a day was nice of the lectures. :)

We also had a few pints afterwards ( well i didnt cause i was still in sick mode) and that was a bit of banter !!! MAN I LOVE COLLEGE
